I believe children play a vital role in the art of storytelling. The authenticity they bring gives life, depth, and truth to the stories we tell. It is possible—and essential—to ensure their safety while they work. We do this by enacting thoughtful laws that protect them, by educating producers, families, and our broader community, and by surrounding young performers with professionals who understand their needs—teachers, counselors, and child and family therapists who help support not only their academic growth but also their emotional well-being.

The spotlight isn’t for everyone, and families deserve the guidance and resources to make informed decisions about participation. The Minor Performer Alliance provides these resources free of charge, empowering families to navigate this unique industry with confidence and care. I deeply applaud their mission and am honored to serve on their advisory board.
