Our Performer Parent Series gives industry parents an inside look into raising a child in entertainment straight from experienced parents who have done it before. MPA Executive Director, Matt McGee, joins Performer Parents, Melissa Caddell and Susan Godfrey, to talk through their experiences. This quarterly series covers essential topics including: Education, Finances, Getting Started in Los Angeles and Mental Health. Parents and their young performers will learn how to pursue safe, healthy and successful careers in entertainment.
Our Parents
Melissa Caddell is an award-winning writer, and mom to three (former) child actors--which means she’s spent the past 20 years navigating auditions, sets, and finding the good coffee at crafty. Along the way, she has asked countless questions from industry pros about what it really takes to “make it” in Hollywood.
Her experience as both a parent and writer has given her a unique lens into the industry’s rhythms, challenges, and joys. Melissa is the author of How to Thrive in LA While Hustling in Hollywood: A How-To Survive Guide for Creatives.
