Our Mission Statement

To ensure the education, safety, health and wellbeing of minors in the entertainment industry.

A Mission-Based Organization

The Minor Performer Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the education, safety, health and well-being of minors in the entertainment industry.

Founded in 2024, MPA is the world’s leading resource for studio teachers and child entertainment labor law.

MPA offers comprehensive educational support to minors working actively in entertainment and pursuing careers in entertainment through its robust scholarship program, which includes scholarships for college, homeschooling and academic tutoring.

In addition to its educational offerings, MPA partners with mental health professionals to offer therapy and resilience coaching to minors grappling with the rigors of a public facing, professional career at a young age.

Minor Performer Alliance is the only minor performer advocacy organization for which minor performers are given decision making power with active seats on the MPA Advisory Board.

Our Purpose

Federal Law exempts children working in entertainment from Child Labor Regulations. There is no single consistent law in the United States that protects the education or safety of minors in the entertainment industry. Each state has a different standard of protection leaving confusing patch work of laws that creates gaps for neglect, abuse and mismanagement of minors on set. 17 States do not protect minors in entertainment at all.

Beyond the glamor of red carpets and the joy of pursuing a career in the arts, Minor Performers face a daunting task. Lack of education, growing up in an adult industry, and an increased likelihood of mental health struggles are just a few of the challenges that thousands of minor performers and their parents face every day.

The highly publicized stories of former minor performers and documentaries like Quiet on Set and An Open Secret have only begun to shine the light on the scope of neglect and abuse for many child performers.

The high stakes competitiveness and inconsistent protections and educational standards of the entertainment industry expose both veteran and new child performers to exploitation and mistreatment at the hands of their care takers. They struggle to speak up because their career, their love of their craft, or their public image could be threatened. We ensure minor performers are protected; empowering them and their parents with the tools necessary to pursue their educations, advocate for themselves and embrace the fundamental truth that they have a right to safety.
